Manchester United ‘offered chance to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax’

Manchester United have reportedly been given fresh hope of signing Matthijs de Ligt from
Ajax this summer.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the most coveted players in world football following a 2018-19 campaign which saw him captain Ajax to a league and cup double as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Juventus were understood to have been closing in on a deal for the youngster, having seemingly beaten off competition from the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
However, certain elements of the agreement remain a point of contention, most notably the £9m being demanded by agent Mino Raiola as commission.
Juve have no qualms with paying Ajax their €75m (£67m) asking price, but they are reluctant to give Raiola such a hefty slice and football consultant Ian McGarry claims that Raiola has subsequently offered his client to United as an alternative.
The Red Devils are also hesitant to include such a fee for an agent, though, particularly given that their relationship with Raiola has deteriorated during Paul Pogba’s attempts to leave the club.
